Research Interests
Dr. Emad Uddin received his Ph.D. in 2014 from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), South Korea. His research was focused on the computational modelling of the fluid flexible body interaction (FSI) for the real life flows including anguilliform locomotion, swimming jellyfish and the cell flowing through the blood. He did the Direct numerical simulation (DNS) of the Navier Stokes (NS) equation coupled with Immersed boundary method (IBM) to solve the multifarious phenomenon involved in real life as well as the biological flows. His work included the semi-implicit method for the Navier Stokes equation, grid regeneration and penalty immersed boundary method to optimize the formation of fish swimming in a group (fish schooling), energy harvesting eel and enhance the numerical stability for large deformation bodies including jellyfish, catenary, disk in shear flow and ring though contraction. In 2014, he joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering, SMME, NUST where he is involved in the development of simulation and experimentation of the array of the energy harvesters and optimization for the low head rivers and water flows. He is also keenly interested in investigating the propulsion of the mosquitoes its effect on the disease spreading and suggesting control mechanism of the disease, low cost air conditioning via solar ejector refrigeration system, optimization of the aerodynamic performance of the micro air vehicles and implementation of the numerical methods to develop the novel robust numerical codes for simulation of the real life problems.
